Theotokis and "socialism".
At the beginning of the 20 century, in the classrooms of mainly literary writers, a questionable ideology emerged, called "sociism". This "socialism", while condemning injustice and exploitation, basically turned against obsolete ideas and perceptions that prevailed in the Greek countryside, expressing a more elastic moral perception that fits with the rapidly urbanized Greek society. The young people who had recently resorted to the cities and the intellectuals, who, even though they lived in villages such as Theotokis in Karousades of Corfu, had a European culture, felt the need to get rid of some perceptions, especially of honor, as anachronistic, and they hit them rudely.

Note for the show
The performance titled "POPULATION" is composed of two short stories by the author from his "Corfiot Stories". Did the "Obligation" and "Amen?" These are two relentless and cynical works. Spartakingly on the position of woman, critically against society and deeply political.
In the "Absence", the attack of honor is treated for the first time as social injustice, while in the "Amateur?" The priest with his attitude exceeds the customary law of his time. We can not see stories cut off from the social environment in which they happen. A social environment that lowens the value of woman's life compared to that of a man. Our mood is to highlight all the cynical elements of the two stories as well as the deep poetry. Our perspective constantly strikes us between the raw realism and the magic of the poetry of the author himself.
